Just as water (or really, milk) finds the path of least resistance, the performers’ actions mirror a principle of nonviolent, natural flow, cutting through every millimeter of their gently pulsating bodies.

The way we shape the theme grows out of a trust that, through working with it and through the development of movement material, sound design, and scenography, it will naturally be transmitted to the audience on multiple levels. We focus on evoking kinesthetic empathy through repetitive and meditative movements. We are interested in creating images of femininity and sexuality that can carry multiple meanings and that emerge fluidly through small shifts and transformations over the course of the entire performance.

Not only symbolic but quite literal shackles, in which the naked bodies were entangled at the very beginning, produced an unusual sound effect with even the slightest movement. Their clinking added force to the overall austere aesthetic and, combined with the dancers’ nudity, evoked surreal—often unsettling—images in the subconscious.

Their sabbath no longer depicts a specific situation; it is simply an explosion of untamed energy. The women do not hesitate to stand directly facing the audience, which is confronted with their strength.

The interview articulates one of the most important contemporary trajectories of experimental dance: a line that understands dance not as a product, technical performance, or an aesthetic supporting dominant ideology, but as a way of relating — to others and to oneself — as a specific form of knowledge.
