About the project:
How close can two bodies dance without touching? What tension, curiosity, or vibration emerges in the space between them? Skin becomes a threshold where self meets the other. Literal and metaphorical touch enters as both risk and invitation: sensing heat as a radar, melting into another body, offering ourselves as landscapes that shall be respected, held, and shared. What happens when the limit is challenged, what kind of embrace does this process entail?
The project builds on somatic improvisation, choreographic research, and (non)touch-based encounters. Performers and dancers navigate proximity, elasticity, awkwardness, vulnerability, and the intensity of being affected ~ exploring empathy in its resonances and contradictions. In today’s world, marked by disconnection and individualization, when was the last time you felt lack of empathy or inability to empathize?
POINT OF TOUCH: Practices of Empathy (working title) is a choreographic project diving into empathy as a physical, relational, and perceptual practice. Empathy here is not a fixed trait, but a cultivated skill shaped by attention, boundaries, and shared resonance. The project culminates in a choreographic performance premiering in October 2026 at Studio ALTA in Prague and Dock 11 in Berlin. Performers contribute as co-creators ~ your intuition, experience, courage and sensitivity shape the work from within.
The performance is currently in the creative process, you can see showings of the work at the following events:
