DANCETOPIA is a weekend symposium that brings together contemporary dance, performance, and time spent in nature. Together we will leave the city and head to a riverside camp near the Sázava river in the Czech Republic for a weekend full of workshops, performances, discussions, and shared movement practice.
Our main themes—explored through both movement and conversation—are regeneration and ecology, touching on ecosystem thinking, ecosomatic practices, queer ecology, and sustainable artmaking. We will explore how dance and performance can speak not only to human audiences, but also to spaces, landscapes, and more-than-human beings around us.
The symposium is open both to movement professionals and to anyone who is curious about dance as a tool for sensing, exploring, and connecting. No prior movement experience required.
PROGRAM
The program will be shaped by a group of resident artists who will spend the full week at ALTA Air Camp and prepare a series of workshops, sharings, and performances for the weekend.
You can look forward to:
~ movement practices in relation to landscape
~ site-specific performances
~ open rehearsals
~ peer led discussions
~ time focused towards rest and regeneration

WHO IS DANCETOPIA FOR?
For artists and performers with experience in body-based practices who are open to further exploration, and open and curious non-professionals interested in jumping into research processes alongside professionals.
TRANSPORT
We’ll travel together from Prague (Studio ALTA) by bus on Friday afternoon and return on Sunday evening. Transportation is included in the ticket price, but you’re welcome to arrive on your own—parking is available on site.
ALTA Air Camp is located approximately 85 km from Prague.
ACCOMMODATION
You'll sleep in your own tent at the campsite. We also have a few simple wooden cabins. These are shared and mainly for those who can’t sleep in a tent. If you need a bed, let us know early—we’ll try to fit you in. Make sure to bring your own sleeping bag either way.
FOOD
Meals are not included in the ticket price. After you register, we’ll send you an order form where you can choose vegetarian or vegan meals for the whole weekend.
You're also welcome to take care of your own meals—but please note there are no shops nearby, so you’ll need to come prepared.

We want DANCETOPIA to be accessible regardless of how much you can currently invest in your personal and professional development. Please consider responsibly your individually and socially enmeshed financial circumstances when selecting a ticket price. The price tiers reflect the real cost of the event, but all tickets give you the same access.

1200 CZK ~ This supports transportation and accommodation
1600 CZK ~ This helps us cover transportation, accommodation, and contributes to paying the artists preparing the weekend program. Thank you!
